GLBT News Headlines (T5T-6)

Thursday marks one decade of acknowledging the Transgender Day of Remembrance, with celebrations and vigils being staged all across the country. Allyson Robinson, the Human Rights Campaign's associate director of diversity, says this year was one of the worst on record for transgender people.
Next month, the United States Supreme Court is expected to meet to review a case which asks whether or not Barack Obama is a "natural-born citizen" and thus qualified under the U.S. Constitution's to become president. A similar suit has been brought by President-Elect Obama's former rival Alan Keyes in California, where the secretary of state has been petitioned to withold electoral votes from Mr. Obama until the question of citizenship is resolved.
Socially conscious scion of Hollywood royalty, Gwyneth Paltrow, has recently gotten a heck of a lot of flack for appearing in a national ad campaign draped in fur. In response Paltrow offered an apology basically saying she didn't know she was wearing real fur. But because it is almost completely incredulous that one as socially aware she professes to be could be that oblivious to differences between real and faux fur, Gwynnie Paltrow is the hypocrite of the week.
