Combined Gay News Headlines (T5T-1)

While attending Petra Nemcova’s 2008 Happy Hearts Gala, where he was auctioning off a date with himself, Kevin Spacey spoke out on Prop 8, telling a reporter "there’s no doubt that election night was a bittersweet night. But in some ways, these kinds of setbacks allow for a bigger fight, more challenges, and eventually we’re [...]
Imagine the world without gays: The hair salon's empty, the spin class lost without its instructor, neighborhood's totally lacking in cute little shops that specialize in imported soaps infused with essential oil, because there's nobody to buy them. Well, on December 10th, a Day Without a Gay won't just be the set-up for an Ugly [...]
UPDATED. It's on. The California Supreme Court ruled today that it will hear lawsuits filed by marriage equality advocates to overturn Proposition 8, which banned same-sex marriage in the state, though the court has refused to prevent the ban from going into effect. The high court's decision paves the way for what is certain to be one [...]
By LISA LEFF, Associated Press Writer SAN FRANCISCO â€" California’s highest court agreed Wednesday to hear several legal challenges to the state’s new ban on same-sex marriage but refused to allow gay couples to resume marrying before it rules. The California Supreme Court accepted three lawsuits seeking to nullify Proposition 8, a voter-approved constitutional amendment that overruled [...]
In response to the whole Proposition 8 deal, local protests and activism events took place at a few churches this past Sunday. The largest took place downtown at the Cornerstone Church (1545 Fulton St.). There were about 20 people present who were handing out flowers with the message, “Do onto others as you would have [...]

Listen to The Kevin Ross Show - It's All About Michelle Obama! on internet talk radio

However, the main topic on the show (it begins at 10PM ET)  tonight is Michelle Obama. Or, rather, Michelle Obama's posterior. Take a look at Erin Aubry Kaplan's post at 3 Brothers and A Sister. She has set off a firestorm of commentary in the black blogosphere with Finally, A First Lady That Looks Like Me!.  A snippet is below the fold.
Erin Aubry Kaplan:

Barack's better half not only has stature but is statuesque. She has coruscating intelligence, beauty, style and -- drumroll, please -- a butt. (Yes, you read that right: I'm going to talk about the first lady's butt.)

What a bonus! From the ocean of nastiness and confusion that defined this campaign from the beginning, Michelle rose up like Venus on the waves, keeping her coif above water and cruising the coattails of history to present us with a brand-new beauty norm before we knew it was even happening.

Lord knows, it's time the butt got some respect. Ever since slavery, it's been both vilified and fetishized as the most singular of all black female features, more unsettling than dark skin and full lips, the thing that marked black women as uncouth and not quite ready for civilization (of course, it also made them mighty attractive to white men, which further stoked fears of miscegenation that lay at the heart of legal and social segregation).

In modern times, the butt has demarcated class and stature among black society itself. Emphasizing it or not separates dignified black women from ho's, party girls from professionals, hip-hop from serious. (Black women are not the only ones with protruding behinds, by the way, but they're certainly considered its source. How many gluteally endowed nonblack women have been derided for having a black ass? Well, Hillary, for one.

...But Michelle is bringing those two falsely divided minds together in a single presentation -- finally, unity for the real world! Talk about a power base. Thanks to Michelle, looking professional and provocative in a distinctly black way will become not only acceptable but also part of a whole presidential look that's more, well, inclusive.

Now we'll all be able to wear leggings to board meetings; we'll sport pencil skirts sans the long jackets meant to cover the offending rear at big conferences where we have to make a good impression. It turns out that Sir Mix-A-Lot, he of "Baby Got Back" fame, was not a novelty but a prophet.

Whew. I am not surprised this has drawn attention.  Kaplan, who has written for The Times, Essence, and LA Weekly, meant to be provocative, so I can't wait to hear what discussion goes on during Kevin's show when he takes calls.
Here I am about to kick back and relax my weary bones and then this completely deranged document lands in my inbox.

After the news about the California Supreme Court's decision to review Prop 8's constitutionality, we got wind of this amicus brief filed in support of letting Prop 8 stand from some outfit called The Kingdom of Heaven World Divine Mission. You have to read it to believe it...it's filed on behalf of God and His Plan. I'm not sh*tting you.

I. OVERVIEW STATEMENT OF FACTS
Throughout the world, each and all countries have constitutions and federal laws. These laws must be enforced accordingly. In the United States of America, we have the United States Constitution and federal laws. In addition, each and all states in the Union have State Constitutions and State laws.

Whether a law is created under the United States Constitution or an individual state's constitution, the enforcement of all laws is vested to the people!

The House and Senate members represent people, and they must always act on the desires of the majority of their constituents.

Throughout the world, it is the responsibility of judges and justices to interpret the laws accurately, and they must then issue their opinions based on the laws and the merits of these cases. Judges and justices are prohibited from making laws from the bench.

The power of making laws in the United States and State of California is vested to the people, not to judges or justices. On November 4, 2008, the majority or 52% of California voters voted "YES" on the Proposition 8 initiative and Constitutional Amendment: Marriage between one man and one woman! These 52 % of voters obeyed the order of the Almighty Eternal Creator of the earth and human race as recorded in the Holy Bible in Genesis 1: 26-27.

The Almighty Eternal Creator created all planets, including the earth and all living creatures, including human souls. Through elections and appointments, Global government leaders and officials are selected by the Almighty Eternal Creator to serve the people. The Almighty Eternal Creator is the sole owner of the earth and everything above, below, and in it. Global government leaders work under authority of the Almighty Eternal Creator. Therefore, throughout the world, government legislatures and people must make laws under the Almighty Eternal Creator's Laws. Global government leaders, judges, justices, and law enforcement officials must practice the sole owner of the earth's Laws in their daily practice.

The Kingdom is just getting warmed up. The unhinged document continues below the fold, as it goes into detail about why the Almighty Eternal Creator's Laws overrule global government laws when it comes to the homos.
All human souls are created by the Almighty Eternal Creator as revealed in the Holy Bible, Genesis 1: 26-27

Then God said: "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. Let them have dominion over the fish of the seas, the birds of the air, and the cattle, and over all the wild animals and all the creatures that crawl on the ground. God created man in his image; in the divine image he created him; male and female he created them. God blessed them, saying: Be fertile and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it.

(Genesis 1:26-27) (emphasis added) Without any exception, all human souls are created by the Almighty Eternal Creator! All souls arrive at the time of conception. The power of human souls works through male sperm and female eggs to form human physical bodies! The time human souls depart from physical bodies is the time of death!

Like throughout global government laws, the Almighty Eternal Creator established His laws for human souls before He created human souls. The Almighty Eternal Creator's Laws overrule global government laws!

Earth is a copy of Heaven and this means all things must exist in the spiritual realm before coming down to earth, such as the three branches of global government: the executive, legislative, and judicial branches. These three branches must have rules and regulations that must pass by an executive of the Almighty Creator's laws. The Almighty Eternal Creator's laws are summarized in the Bible, Old and New Testaments.

Obviously, as it is recorded in Genesis 1: 26-27 copied above, after God created human souls in God's divine image, God blessed them and ordered all human souls on earth: "Be fertile and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it." (emphasis added)

This means that besides those God chose to be single to serve Him to benefit the souls' eternal lives in the Kingdom of Heaven, God ordered human souls to be fertile and multiply, fill the earth with human natural bodies!

In order to fill the earth with human physical bodies, God ordered each and all marriages to be between one man and one woman! Indirectly, God prohibits gay and lesbian marriage.

Through Genesis 1: 26-27, God also orders all children must be born from natural conception and prohibits all abortions!

II ARGUMENT:
Each and every person has free will for whether or not he or she obeys the Almighty Eternal Creator's Laws.

The issue of this case is gay and lesbians demanding that the State of California courts strike down the State of California's Constitutional Amendment that passed by a majority (52%) of voters on November 4, 2008. This amendment is for wrong purposes of legalizing same-sex marriage. Courts throughout the entire State of California, the United States of America, as well as world courts DO NOT have authority to reverse the Almighty Eternal Creator's Law that bans same-sex marriage.

The Almighty Eternal Creator's Laws are similar to those established by the State of California, the United States, and countries throughout the world, but certain people are banning these laws.

Example: If an individual attempts to assassinate the State of California's Governor or the United States President, and the person got caught, surely the person would be charged with attempted murder of the State of California's Governor or the President of the United States, and jurors would sentence him to prison without parole or to capital punishment in accordance with established laws.

Gay and lesbian marriage and abortion are serious attempts to destroy the Almighty Eternal Creator's ongoing creation of human life on earth! If they do not change their sexual conduct and pay in full for damages caused while they are on earth, they surely must pay after their earthly lives!

This insanity goes on for 40 pages.

H/t Nick @ PageOneQ for the church lady idea.

BREAKING NEWS: The California Supreme Court has agreed to hear these cases!

California's highest court has agreed to hear legal challenges to a new ban on gay marriage, but is refusing to allow gay couples to resume marrying until it rules.

The California Supreme Court on Wednesday accepted three lawsuits seeking to overturn Proposition 8. The amendment passed this month with 52 percent of the vote. The court did not elaborate on its decision.

All three cases claim the ban abridges the civil rights of a vulnerable minority group. They argue that voters alone did not have the authority to enact such a significant constitutional change.

Updating my diary from just an hour ago- blink and miss the rapidly changing stories this week!

(My apologies if this has already been covered via diaries, comments or posts- boy, have we all been a busy bunch to help out Pam! Fabulous reading and info this week so far...)

================================================

California Council of Churches has filed a lawsuit against Prop 8; the press release here- ZOMG, can this really be happening???
From their website:

Recent events have converged to make the freedom to marry a concern to all people in California.  The California Council of Churches and IMPACT have long stood strong against discrimination against any of God's children.  At the same time, we recognize that many churches and people of faith believe they must oppose the freedom to marry based on what they have been taught the Bible has to say on the subject.  Therefore, we have produced this study guide to help congregations in California struggling with differences of opinion on the subject of marriage equality to discuss the biblical texts, theology, church traditions, and civil rights from a place of compassion and love of neighbor - the central elements of Jesus' teachings.

An important point for this study is the distinction between marriage as a civil ceremony and a religious ceremony or sacrament.  We call on all people to acknowledge the secular civil right even as churches wrestle with the sacramental issues.  We can agree to guarantee civil rights even as denominations deliberate with the issue of marriage equality as an element of church law/rites/blessings.   Equal protection under the law, tolerance and respect for diversity, and defining one's own views while permitting other views, are consistent with authentic religious commitments where we all can live in a world of differences and ambiguities while still respecting other people's secular rights.

It is very important for communities of faith of all perspectives to understand that there is no law or pressure that any individual or faith community will be forced to perform marriages against their beliefs.  Conversely, there is pressure to deny churches and individuals to have or bless same-sex unions.  Separation of church and state requires us to respect differences in each denomination or church.  Those seeking to permit same-sex marriage must have equal standing with those that do not.  To forbid such marriages across the board infringes on the religious liberty of clergy and congregations whose faith requires them to perform this pastoral care.  It is anti-democratic to impose one religious viewpoint on everyone else.

Fingers crossed even more, teac... we're now to crossing toes too!

The LGBT community played a significant role in the...
