Gay and trans activists in Jakarta took advantage of the International Day Against Homophobia last Saturday May 17, to demonstrate on behalf of GLBT Indonesians.
The small group of activists called for more tolerance for gays and for transgender people, who are known as ‘Waria’, derived from the words wanita (woman) and pria (man) in the Indonesian language.
